Inspectors visited Dinnington Comprehensive School for two days in January and sat in on 57 lessons.
The school was rated as good in two areas - behaviour and safety of students and leadership and management.
But two other areas were rated as needing improvement - achievement of pupils and quality of teaching.
The report praised the senior leaders and headteacher at the school. The report said: “Leaders and managers ensure that the school has a robust and accurate understanding of its own performance, and that major actions to bring about improvements are concerted.”
