MORE than 80 families have been helped by Notts County Council through a project aimed at turning around the lives of those families across Bassetlaw who are most difficult to engage with.
Last summer the council announced that it would receive £2.3million over the next three years as part of the Government’s Troubled Families Programme to reduce the burden of certain families on the public purse.
Those who have received support are those struggling with crime and anti-social behaviour, school attendance and poverty, where parents are on out-of-work benefits.
In total 116 Bassetlaw families have been identified as qualifying for support. The scheme is helping 370 families across Notts.
The council plans to help a further 790 families during its second year.
